Who Am I?

Published by nerdyblogger under books, me, movies, music, tv Edit This

Hello all!

My name is Nerdy Blogger, and I’m here to tell you a little more about myself before I get started here with my first full-fledged post, as well as tell you what sort of content you might expect to find here.

You’ll find the occasional book, music, movie, and/or TV review.

In books and movies, I tend to go for fantasy/sci-fi, but I don’t always restrict myself to such.  I love children’s lit, so I like to dip into that as well.   I wrote my undergraduate thesis on Christian Symbolism in Harry Potter and The Chronicles of Narnia, which received a big fat A (and was completed about 8 months before the final installment of Harry Potter was released.  Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows confirmed many predictions, and analysis made therein).  Booyah.  ;)  (And now someone needs to say something mean to me so my ego will deflate.  J/k, please don’t.  :D)

I’m quite the kid at heart, so I have a great fondness for an assortment of older cartoons, particularly from the 80s (Jem, The Real Ghostbusters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Garfield & Friends, Transformers, G.I. Joe, the list goes on…), but I also really enjoy the Disney Channel.  I really do love Hannah Montana, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly Place, That’s So Raven, etc. in all their cheesey glory.  Aside from my love of cheesey children’s programming, I’m a big fan of The Office and not so secretly desire to have my very own Cafe Disco.  The Office’s humor fits my own dry wit and keeps me laughing and drinking from my “World’s Best Boss” mug.

Anything superhero is a must for me, and everyone that knows me well knows that if I could, I would spend my days running around in a cape and saving the world with the likes of the X-Men, Spider-man, Batman, and most importantly, She-Hulk.  I’ve been known to immerse myself in superhero cartoons, gathering in all forms and incarnations of my favorite heroes, just to simply see what they’re like.

As for music, I enjoy almost all varieties, but rarely buy a new CD, unless it’s one of my most favorite artists.  There’s a very large used music/movie/book/video game/computer software store about 30 minutes from my house, thus making my music collection very large and diverse for a small amount of money, and simultaneously increasing my frugality.  However, this usually prevents me from buying a brand new CD, unless, like I said, it’s a favorite artist, and I simply can’t wait to get it.  I’ll write a review of whatever CD I happen to be enjoying at the time, regardless of age.  You’d be surprised what sorts of excellence lie dusty on a shelf.

As for movies, again, sci-fi/fantasy is my genre of choice, and I’ll watch almost anything with a superhero in it.  Family films and clean comedies are also favorites of mine.  I work with youth, so I’m always up for finding films I can enjoy with younger kids.  I’ll do a write up of any movie I happen to be watching, for your reading pleasure, as well as offering my opinion on what might be fun for everyone.

Anyway, I believe that’s all for now.  Keep on reading!

Blessings,
NB
